Story time!

Now that a I have a few free minutes it’s time to post the funny stories that happened in Germany.

Oddly enough, [info]exilejedi is the primary star and [info]butterandjelly is the supporting actress in both.

Back story helps for both stories. [info]exilejedi took 3 years of German in high school. Yes, it has been 12 years since he took German classes, but he often helped when there were langauge issues.

Story 1
In Rudesheim there is a a cable car you can take up to the top of the hill. After we check into the hotel, [info]butterandjelly asks the staff how to get there. The man at the desk spoke very little english. Butterandjelly says to him, “Cable car. . . mountain. . . where?” When it was clear he didn’t understand we called Exilejedi over for langauage assistance. He turns and says, “Cable car. . .mountain. . .where?” BUT with hand gestures. Luckily, the name of the cable car was on the poster next to where I was standing so I than jumped in. But the addition of hand jestures was beatiful.

Story 2
6 years ago when we went to on our honeymoon to Italy they only language meal issue we had was at when Exilejedi ordered Risotto Marinara, which ended up being Seafood Risotto, not a red tomoato sauce.

In Deisdheimer we ate lunch at probably the fanciest place in the country. Butterandjelly were both eyeing a salad that was thought to be a fruit salad. Well, it turned out to be a fruit of the sea salad, with the SAME “fruits of the sea” as he ordered in Italy. I almost fell out of the chair laughing.

It amuses me to remember your reactions to these…almost more than the actual incidents amuse me…
