Lately at wine class I’ve been asked what I think about a lot of high end wines. So we have decided once a month we’ll splurge and get a really nice bottle of wine, have dinner at home and enjoy.
With this I have to write a full diploma tasting note on each wine we do.
So, what would people recommend for the first wine?

It has to be real nice but ready to drink? Define “really nice.” You may want to see what’s on winecommune.com or some place like that to get something that’s been cellared for a while. I mean, a “really nice” bottle of wine should age for a while. I have a 90 Canon la Gaffeliere I’m saving for my 30th birthday (definitely biggest splurge item I’ve had and will have for a long time), is that what you’re thinking about?
I take it Little Penguin wouldn’t be a welcome suggestion?
Yeah, Little Penguin would be on the far opposite end of the spectrum from what we’re wanting to explore.
Correct. So things we might drink early just because a lot of people drink some of the premium CA stuff very early.
Guess you guys missed the part where I was trying to make you laugh…
Any recommendations I make are going to be me living vicarously through you, as you get some Pride or Harlan Estate or something like that. I wanna know what you taste, though.
True story. I’m playing bridge tonight and behind me I hear someone talking about the new Trader Joe’s that may open later this year in the area. We don’t have one. “And the greatest part is…” I just hung my head on the desk. The girl to my right wanted to know if I was OK, if I needed some Tylenol or something. I should have said yes.
You know I’ll post them.
