On second thought, let’s not go to Camelot; it is a silly place

Olympics vs. Studying

So, I’ve suck with studying this week. Between wine dinners and the Olympics I haven’t been as good as I should be.

What’s been so interesting to me is how the US overall has not delivered on the medals that thought they were going to get. And it hasn’t been because of a French judge or other outside reasons. It’s been performance reasons, either amazing performances from other countries and/or horrible performances from the US.

It will be interesting to see how people respond once the Olympics are over.

Heh, I’m in the same boat this week (except for the wine dinners.) I’ve been watching the Olympics like a total fiend, not getting to bed early and definitely not getting my reading done for school.

The US meltdown has indeed been interesting. I particularly enjoyed the Johnny Weir quote I heard this morning, as to why he sucked it up on the ice: “I didn’t feel my aura. Inside, I was black.” *laugh*

At least the US snowboarders have been kicking ass and taking names this week - they’ve been a lot of fun to watch.

I have been good about getting up to work out! So at least I get brownie points on one front.

I heard that quote last night on the news or someplace else, but all I could think about was imagining saying that to a parent or a teacher after sucking on a test.

The new snowboard cross was fun to watch. And the half pipe was a lot of fun, especially with the ipod being listened to during one gold medal run.

I loved the halfpipe! Shaun White was just so casual about his winning runs. I was sorry that Kelly Clark flubbed her last trick; she was spectacular up to that point.

The snowboard cross was fun too, if not as splashy. :-)

Except for the women’s SSX final… that little showoff move was kind of dumb, and lost the girl her gold medal.

Yes, well… the US snowboarders aside from Lindsay Jacobellis have been kicking butt. She screwed up and oh, did the media ever rake her over the coals for it. (Did you see the Bob Costas interview with her at the end of the night on Saturday? SO mean, and so funny.)

To be honest, she was kicking butt too, until she decided to style before she was done with the race.

They need a little half-pipe or something right after the finish line to allow post-race “I’m feeling good and want to do tricks” shenanigans. :-)
