I know everyone has had the buring question, “What’s up with Liz?” since I haven’t posted in a while.
Life is super crazy. If you thought I was busy in previous jobs in November and December, well this one tops them all.
I’ve been working for the last 8 days straight. No compalints. Some days it’s running around doing the normal route, other days it’s just pouring for tastings. It’s sad that I now know the quickest route to Grafton from Medina.
But, looks like Wednesday will be pretty light and I’m totally off Thursday and Friday. Saturday is a fairly easy tasting and Sunday, oh Sunday, turn the alarm off, pull the covers over the head and sleep! And that’s just November! I’m a wee bit scared about December, but no complaints and we aren’t heading out of town for the holiday.
The one thing I’ve been saddened by in this business is the lack of professionalism. You set an appointment, they don’t show. How many places the buyer is sleeping with the sales person, etc. I know with sales there are always kick-backs, etc, but this is to a different level.
Odd things I’ve learned when you spend all day in liquor stores, the number of people who buy 6 gallon jugs of the vodka in the plastic bottle and than say to the guy, “See you in two weeks” is a bit scary. If I ever start drinking any hard liquor from a plastic gallon jug that’s when I need to be taken out and shot.
Other things I’ve learned, the day Great Lakes Christmas ale was dropped into stores and a number of places who are pouring it on draft. Where on the west side has the best selection of mico-brews and various Christmas brews.
So, if anyone plans on seeing me between now and January, if it’s not on the calendar already speak now or don’t even plan on me making it. Even if you speak up, I don’t hold your breath on me being there. Life is just that crazy right now.
