- Tasted 16 wines, did ok.
- Not happy with the way they changed the tasting porition. They give you a sheet and you check the boxes. So let’s say you think a wine is Med-High Body, well, if master key says it’s High, no points for you. WTF?!?!?
- Hotel is nice and close to the school which is nice.
- Got new study guide. Going to work through those questions tonight. In many ways it’s good to have a study guide I haven’t seen yet to help review.
- 3 Teachers today, 2 were good, 1 was hard to hear. The Irish accent I can understand normally, she’s just soft spoken and clips many letters, so half the time I thought she was swearing.
- The class is mostly women oddly enough. And not that many in the biz. I thought more would be in the biz.
- Weird alarm clock made odd beeping noses all night so I didn’t sleep too hot last night. Need some good rest tonight.
On a personal note, all posts from here till I get back are friends only. They will be made public next week when I return.
- Mood:
tired

I only had one session with the Irish lady and her pronunciation of French terms made me want to eat nails. Also, she was one of the people who stayed so close to the book outline that I was glad we didn’t have more of her.
I suspect the change to the way they are teaching the tasting stuff is due in part to the fact that they were not doing a great job of it when I took the class. They allowed us a lot more leeway and we spent more than half of each class debating instead of learning “the method,” which as I am sure you know, only really matters for the test.
I would say any where from 1/2 to 2/3 of the stuff covered in class will be on the exam and the rest is interesting, but “extra” material. (The “snake oil” discussion in CA was very interesting and I hadn’t heard of it.)
I know in theory you shouldn’t be teaching for the exam, but than again, this isn’t no child left behind this is for a damn wine exam.
On the plus side, I’m doing really good on the multiple choice review, need to work on the essay stuff.
