Popped out at lunch today to pick up the new NIN album, and the Return of the Sith soundtrack. NIN is pretty good. Haven’t listened to Sith yet–considering trying to keep at least a tiny bit of “prequel purity” before The Big Day comes, even though I already read the silly kids’ storybook version at K-Mart the other week. (Lucas should just cut out all the dialogue and make it a silent film, because what’s in the storybook looks pretty freaking sweet.)
Also, finally got off my butt and ordered tickets for VNV Nation (June 7 at the Cleveland House of Blues, in case anyone feels like being social in a bouncy EBM-synth-industrial sort of way).
Also also, this Saturday is Free Comic Book Day!
Excitement abounds! Excelsior!

so, i’m trying to decide if i want to wait until i get home or go see it in italian. i think i may just have to see it here. who knows, maybe it will be better in italian!
“usa la forza, luke”
Pleasing to tell… Where for to be the buying of the tickets for the EBM please?
/me smells a great B-day present for Monica.
ooo… I’d love a free copy of Flight.
Though I’d be curious to see the Revenge of the Sith adaptation too… could be fun to analyze it to death. Still want to learn more about the medium.
Thanks for the heads up!
I got mine from the House of Blues website, though that only appears to be good for shows actually at House of Blues venues.
Ticketmaster appears to have the complete run of shows available.
Have you heard the new album yet? It’s… different. I’m still getting used to it. Some of it sounds like “what if VNV Nation was making music in the 80’s?” There are even some tracks with “real-sounding” drums… wacky!!!
I don’t know if it would be subbed or dubbed… And, as bad as Hayden and Natalie are, I doubt that they’d be better dubbed. I also doubt you’d want to hear James Earl Jones re-dubbed into Italian either, unless he did it himself. (I remember watching a German dub of the “ALF” TV show, and it was damn creepy — Alf sounded like some crusty old pervert.)
The decision also depends on what your wife’s moviegoing preferences are — will you get in trouble for seeing it without her? (Or will she be visiting you by then?)
You’re quite welcome!
I have never partaken in Free Comic Day, but I have always thought it was a cool idea, and there is usually some cool free stuff available. Plus it gets you in the door to see all the other great stuff that your local comic shop sells (smart, smart, smart!).
I really like the place up the road from me in Westlake; it’s too bad that my favorite record store — right next door to the comic book shop! — closed, otherwise it would have been the ultimate nexus of geeky goodness.
Does the darling Trent Reznor still live in the Clevetown area?
We were nearly in the same social circle when NIN was first making it big. He had quite a reputation for abusing the ladies. Though, admittedly, sounded like some of the ladies he was seeing were none too stable. Gotta love Ohio rockers!
heh, yeah i used to party with one of their old keyboard players before they were well-known. but before they went on a big tour, they left without telling him. ouch!
all very good points. yesterday i heard about a theater that shows movies in english. i may need to see if it’s playing there.
they dub everything here. i’d be shocked if it was subtitled.
and i have a hunch that
wolffire would not be too disappointed if i saw it without her. so, we’ll have to see.
