Okay, Google Maps is just about the coolest thing ever. It’s a bit beta, but the combination of location finding, local search, and directions is insanely great. And it’s fast. Fast, fast, fast.
Totally freaking cool. I bow before the mighty powers of the Google folks!

wow… and that’s far more attractive and readable than the other ones I use.
I love maps.

Yeah, the look is great, the usability is great… A really nice product. And I love the combination of searches: I searched first on my home address, then I hit the “Local Search” link and told it “mexican restaurant”. Boom! Little map-pins showing me a bunch of nearby restaurants. Click on any of them to show details. Click in there to get directions. Simple!
I half-worry that the smart people at Google will eventually out-do everyone else at everything, and then there won’t be anything left for the rest of us to do.
What do you mean “eventually?” Given the people and companies I work for, I’m convinced they already out-do us. My dog is a better programmer than some people I know.
Thankfully, Google doesn’t do ecards. Yet.
/me glances nervously over his shoulder…
the one thing i like better at mapquest is that they have the street directions… but i do like the navigability of google maps. click and drag is always nice. all they have to do is add the rest of the world and they’ll be all set.
(i also don’t like how the highways stay large… mapquest is nicer looking when you want a zoomed-out picture that still keeps a certain amount of delicate-ness to the image.
and i think i still prefer yp.yahoo.com. local google can be a little too thorough, and pulls up too many off-topic companies. (but the little pins are very nice.)
