On second thought, let’s not go to Camelot; it is a silly place

Wine country by the numbers

Friday night I got back, very late. Had a great time. Really like my new co-workers/bosses.

Here’s the numbers:
In three days. .
130 wines tasted
16 wineries visited
6 resturants ate in

Overall thoughts:
If you go to wine country, skip Napa and southern Sonoma. Go up to Russian River Wine Road. Overall better wine, friendlier tasting rooms and most of them are free.

Places to eat:
In Healdsburg Zin, Willie’s Fish place and Bistro Ralph were really good. Dry Creek Kitchen was overall OK. I had the tasting menu and this was the first time I every told a chef the wine pairing with the tasting menu was bad, but dessert, Chocolate Peanut Butter Terrine that was to die for!

In Sonoma, The Girl and the Fig was to amazing. Worth a drive for dinner. She’s got a new cookbook out. I’ve got it, recipes look great, can’t wait to try them.
