On second thought, let’s not go to Camelot; it is a silly place

Timing, Loss, Remembrance, Synchronicity

Mother’s Day began with a lazy morning in bed, sunbeams probing gently into the house as birds sang out the joys of spring. Before long, though, the graceful lethargy of the morning was interrupted by the phone; Liz’s mom calling to announce the passing of her mother, Liz’s grandmother.

As expected, the day has been a bit off-kilter ever since.

Plans for imminent travel to Chicago are, of course, under way. Liz and her grandmother did not have what could be termed a good relationship, but it is the duty of family to come together in such times. The ritual obligations of family are not to be resented, but must be undertaken, appreciated, celebrated, for some day we will all be in need of our own celebrations and remembrances.

Meanwhile, I haven’t been able to get ahold of my own mother on this particular day of mothers, haven’t been able to hear her voice, thank her for my life, tell her I love her.

Mom, you’d better check the answering machine when you get home. I miss you.

And yes, iTunes really did randomly serve up Pink Floyd’s “Mother” as I sat down just now to check my mail for the first time today. Sometimes I wonder if iTunes knows more than it has any right to…

huggle-snuggles and cuddles for you and Liz, in comfort for you loss. :(

You are a wonderful couple. I don’t know how, with Inovest and everything, but try to find some time just for the two of you, okay?

Oh, and you have a very lucky mom, to have such a good son.

    :)

Are you sure the recent release of iTunes 4.5 didn’t slip in some sort of iMedium technology preview in between Party Shuffle and iMix?

At the next MWSF, they’ll reveal the full Xpsychic software suite which will allow your Mac to do what you WANT, not what you TELL it!

Well, eventually we will have some “us time”. This coming Saturday (after the funeral and Innovest), we’re going out to the Blessing of the Vines at Markko, and having a nice night out at the new lodge in Geneva-on-the-Lake (or somewhere thereabouts).

What are you guys doing on Wednesday or Thursday night? I’ll be in town and minus both a kitchen and my wife; it’d be a great time to get together for dinner if you aren’t super-busy. (Hmm, is it super-rude of me to invite myself like that?)

We’re too lame to remember to invite people over every now and then, so please, invite yourself over any time! Hell, you’re welcome to just drop by unannounced anytime you want. Though our doorbell is freaking out…

    Anyway.

Thursday would be great; Marie fights on Wednesdays.

    Liz (& Mike),

I am so sorry. I know how difficult this is :(

    Love you both.

So sorry to hear about this. Don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything.

Thursday sounds great! I’ll have to remember how to get to your house, but we can figure that out later (not yet mentally equipped to deal with that half of the week).

    :-)

    Hmmmm…let me think here…

Sorry - not going to happen. Option B?

  • 11 exilejedi May 10, 2004 at 3:25 am Gravatar

You could be like everyone else at EDI/JumpStart and run FROM Innovest! ;-)

  • 12 butterandjelly May 10, 2004 at 3:46 am Gravatar

That’s kind of the thought ;-)

    Dear it’s JumpSHIP, not jumpstart.
