Today is the day of the company picnic/silly competition/enforced socialization. The committee that put together today’s plans has decided to do a “Survivor” theme.
Now… Maybe it’s just me… But given that we’ve had five rounds of very badly handled layoffs over the past couple of years, isn’t it poor taste to base the company picnic on a TV show about voting people off the island?

They just announced that the bathrooms at our event site are in such a state of disrepair that they are… undesirable to use. Lovely!
Maybe someone else will realize what a bad idea a Survivor themed picnic is in a period of layoffs. Then the person responsible will be voted out of HR.
Yikes. That *is* in poor taste…
That’s hilarious. When you add in the fact that the whole “Survivor” thing is a few years past its peak of popularity, the whole thing seems like a parody of modern office culture. I could totally see adapting the situation into a comedy sketch. In fact, maybe I will…
That’d be great. Mmmkay?

The people on the committee this year are all senior management. Most of them are one step below our CEO, Josef, and they’re all essentially untouchable. So they can pretty much get away with anything.
As anticipated, it was a pretty lame day. The worst part is, I actually have important things to do that I could have gotten done, but didn’t. Oh well…
I still think it would be a great way for companies to prevent stagnation in their management if they voted someone off every year.
This past Sunday, our minister gave a sermon on thanksgiving. The main text was Noah and the flood. I didn’t that was appropriate either….

i guess this would have made the people who had to go to the bathroom… to do it… “nature style” haha.
sorry to hear the day was so crappy.
did you at least get to go to the bathroom in the bushes?
Apparently the event planners had brought air freshener and wet wipes and other sanitation supplies, so that if you chose to use the restrooms, you could make it semi-acceptable. I wouldn’t know for sure though; I went before I left.
Yeah, that might not have been the wisest thing for him to do. It’s just asking for trouble.
