I Can’t Believe I Read the Whole Thing

I finished The Silmarillion last night. Whew!

It actually picks up quite a bit toward the end once lots of people start getting killed off, and the world gets turned all topsy-turvy. And the very beginning of it isn’t hard going either. But the middle… the long, long middle… is a thing of great pain.

Since I’ve been a slacker and taken my time with the Tolkien, all the rest of my summer reading has been piling up. Now I need to figure out what’s next. Too many choices!

Hehe. The Silm really *does* read like the Bible sometimes. Especially if you read the King James Version of 1611, which my teachers in highs school preferred.

You should see my pile of unread books. It’s literally a mountain already. Well, a small hill maybe.
