Circle of life

While doing mulch in the back yard, I saw our neighborhood cat walking across the back yard. Soon, it started running back and forth on the back of our property. Than the bunny started darting in and out of the plants with the cat close behind. They both disappeared for a few minutes than three HORRIBLE loud screams told me the bunny died. A minute later the cat walked out of the back wooded area with the dead bunny in teeth, across the lawn and over to our nieghbors bushes. I than heard the cat ripping flesh and breaking bones.

After this is walk into our house call up to Mike and tell him the story. As he explains it’s the circle of life. I’m happy the rabbit is dead, than he won’t eat our plants, but at the same time, it’s a cute fluffy rabbit. I’m trying to convience myself it’s a rodent with a white tail.

My family used to have a problem with squirrels and bunnies. Then we got Max, our 70 pound black Lab mix. We don’t have a bunny or squirrel problem any more.

That story sounds all most as bad as when I realized that the week of squeaking coming from my refrigerator was not the compressor, but a little starving, emaciated, parched mouse stuck on the glue trap under there. I don’t use glue traps any more. The snap traps might be a bit more gruesome and sometimes bloody, but they are a lot quicker and more humane, I think.
