On second thought, let’s not go to Camelot; it is a silly place

Can marriage survive a new bedroom color?

Since Mike is on call this weekend, we can’t go out of town. Since it’s raining I can’t mulch. So, I’m going to repaint our bedroom. The problem to solve is what color are we going to do?

Feng shui color issues:
1) Feng shui says pink & red are good colors for passion, but can’t do pink, too girly, and “Avoid red, except as an accent. While red encourages passion, it disturbs the sleep”
2) Never, ever paint your bedroom blue. We’ve seen that choice alone increase the traffic to the lawyer’s office. Blue is cool. You don’t want to feel cool in your bedroom, do you? Not with your Honey late at night, with the lights off. Blue is about service, duty, work and ‘blue collar’ stuff.
3) Avoid using white in your bedroom; it’s too neutral and sterile and you don’t want those qualities in your love nest, imagine passion and sweetness instead.
4)Avoid using yellow; it’s very intellectual, which makes it great for an office, but lousy for the boudoir
5) Only paint your bedroom lavender if you never want to have sex again. This is the color of chastity, which makes it great for your teenager’s room, but not for yours. Please keep pieces of amethyst out of your bedroom because it has that similar chaste influence.

So what’s good?
1) All skin tones, tans, light browns and pink help the body feel nurtured. The colors of plants, especially shades of green add a Venus quality to your bedroom.
2) If you lean towards darker shades in the bedroom you’ll sleep better.

We are playing with the Benjamin Moore paint viewer Currently, I’m leaving toward, Jack Pine and Enchanted Forest. Any other suggestions?

I liked both greens, but I thought you didn’t like green!

(That paint viewer’s a fun toy, btw.)

I really don’t like green. But I could cope.

I’m still a fan of the sleep-depriving Moroccan Red and Spanish Red. My problem with the greens is there are too many that I liked…. Gothic Green, Martha’s Vineyard, Gondola Ride, Balsam, Garden Cucumber, and the two that Liz already mentioned.

I’m a fan of the sleep-depriving Spanish Red.

Jim and I have gotten into hypothetical arguments over the fact that I just really want to paint a room red (like that Spanish Red) and he really hates red rooms. Apparently they make him jumpy and hyper.

    (More hyper??) ;)

I am surprised that Mike is not ranting on how some web thing will NEVER give you good colour, since there is no gamma interoperability over the web, unless you know what you (and the web browsers) are doing.

    Too tired to rant. :-)

That and I wasn’t looking for 100% accuracy, just a reasonable approximation. Sort of the “yes, this might be acceptable” vs. “no, keep that crap the hell away from my bedroom walls!”
