From today’s Plain Dealer
Police surrounded the Peter B. Lewis Building at Case Western Reserve University. One student lay dead, a gunman stalked the halls and everyone inside cowered.
What a perfect time to write parking tickets.
On May 9, as the horrific drama unfolded, a University Circle Inc. parking enforcement employee - a civilian, not a cop - busily issued $17 tickets for dozens of cars parked at expired meters in lots a few seconds’ walk from the crime scene.
“As soon as we got wind of this, we immediately alerted the violations writer to stop,” said an embarrassed University Circle Inc. spokeswoman Debra Posner. A shocked police officer at the siege had called to report the ticketing.
“We apologize for the poor judgment of the violations writer,” Posner said. To make things right, UCI tore up every ticket written after 4 p.m. that day in two lots: one at Ford Drive and Euclid Avenue and one behind the University East building. Questions? Call the parking office at 216-791-6226.

I’m shocked and awed that UCI did not ticket the cop cars, SWAT tank, and hostage rescue Greenies.
Now now, the tank and the Greenies kept moving. That and the SWAT team would have blown their asses away if they tried. Better to just ticket the helpless people who were trapped in the building with a gun-toting psychopath! I feel safer already.
