So we just found out that a number of organizational changes are going on, and that a number of people will be pursuing “other opportunities”. We have a meeting at 1 to discuss, with a follow-up meeting for our group (the techie folks). I still have a job, but several people that I have really enjoyed working with will be leaving, which really really sucks.

I might be dealing with something similar in the next few weeks or months…
The only consolation I can offer is that you still have a job. I know a bunch of people looking for jobs right now, and it seems that the job market is pretty craptacular.
Hope things work out as well as can be expected.
If you think the market is bad in Big Cities With Real Companies, you should see Cleveland. If there are openings for geeks, it’s all Microsoft crap (VB or .Net), JCL with heaps of experience therein, or various flavors of certified DBA’s with godlike experience. I honestly think if I got let go at this point, I might seriously looking at leaving Cleveland. Whee…
