On second thought, let’s not go to Camelot; it is a silly place

Whoopee!! Nice, clean haircut, shiny new DVD’s, and home in time for Ground Force Goes Air Force (which happens to feature the absolute worst weather the Ground Force folks have ever had to put up with — gale force winds, torrential rain, hail, and jet fighter fly-by’s). Maybe you can have it all!

I take it you got Simpsons Season 2 and LOTR? That’s what I did. I ended up doing the deal at Blockbuster where you pay $25 for a 10-rental card and get the LOTR DVD for free, whee! Then I picked up Simpsons Season 2. I only watched one episode so far, but reading through my Simpsons episode guide, there are a lot of good ones in Season 2. Way fun.

As for LOTR, I was so tired last night that I only got through 40 minutes, but I plan to watch the rest tonight. I only saw it once in theaters, but I quite like it. And I slowly creep towards finishing the book…

How bout that 4-Disc edition coming in November? Boy howdy. I wish I could justify the extra ~$25 for the “gift package” version with the nifty-keen bookends, but I really can’t. I’ll go for the “standard” ~$30 version.

Actually, I got Simpsons season 2, FotR, and the new Star Trek II: TWoK. I was able to resist the crappy bare-bones TWoK, and my reward is a nice nice two-disc set. Yay!!

I saw FotR twice in theatres, the second time with the integrated preview/trailer for LotR:TTT… I can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait!!! *bounce* I will be getting the 4-disc set in November (though not the one with the mini-Argonath bookends), since I really want the extra scenes (much of the extra scenes apparently address specific problems I had with the theatrical cut), and the extras are entirely different between the 2-disc and 4-disc versions. On the plus side, the 2-disc came with a rebate for the 4-disc, so at least they are being merciful.

Although, the 4-disc also comes with that nice National Geographic documentary about the making of LotR, which while currently available separate, is also expanded/longer/better/more for the big gift set. It’s a tough call…. :-)
